Who we are

This website, https://stnectariosgoc.org, is operated by Saint Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church, 133 S. Roselle Road, Palatine, IL 60067. If you have any questions about this policy or your information, contact the Parish Office at (847) 358-5170 or office@stnectariosgoc.org.

We respect your privacy. We collect only the information we need to serve our parish and visitors, and we never sell your personal information.

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you fill out a form on our site, such as a contact form, a “Contact the Leader” message for a ministry, a registration, or a mailing list sign-up, we collect what you enter. This usually includes your name, email address, phone number and message.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our server and security services record basic technical information when you visit. This includes your IP address, browser type, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit. We use this to keep the site secure and working properly.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • respond to your questions and requests;
  • forward your message to the ministry leader or staff member who can help, with a copy to the Parish Office;
  • send parish news and updates if you have signed up for them;
  • process registrations for ministries, schools and events;
  • protect the website from spam, abuse and security threats.

Ministries, groups and forms (Church Community Builder)

Our ministry directory, calendar and many registration forms are provided through Church Community Builder (CCB), the parish’s church management system. When you join a group or submit a CCB form, your information is stored in CCB and handled under CCB’s own privacy policy. When you send a message through a “Contact the Leader” form on our site, we deliver it to that leader by email without revealing their email address to you. We also keep a short record of the message to prevent abuse.

Online giving

Online donations are processed by [giving provider name], a secure third-party payment service. We do not receive or store your full card or bank account number. Your payment information is handled under that provider’s privacy policy.

Mailing list

If you join our parish mailing list, your name and email address are stored with [email service name] so we can send you parish news. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email.

Children’s information

Our website is intended for adults. Registrations for Sunday School, Greek School, Day School and youth ministries should be completed by a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us personal information without a parent’s consent, contact the Parish Office and we will remove it.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. Our site uses a few that are needed for it to work, for example to keep administrators logged in and to support our security firewall. [If you use Google Analytics or similar, add: “We also use [analytics service] to understand how visitors use our site. This information is collected in a way that does not identify you personally.”] You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work properly without them.

Embedded content from other websites

Some pages include content from other websites, such as livestreamed services, videos, maps and social media posts. This embedded content behaves the same way as if you had visited the other website directly. Those sites may collect information about you, use cookies, and track your interaction with the content, especially if you are logged in to an account with them.

Who we share your information with

We share information only as needed to serve you:

  • parish clergy, staff and ministry leaders who need it to respond to you;
  • service providers that help run our website and parish programs, including our web host and security service (GoDaddy), Church Community Builder, our giving provider and our email service;
  • law enforcement or others when required by law or to protect the safety of our parish.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.

How long we keep your information

We keep form submissions and messages only as long as needed to respond to you and for normal parish record-keeping. Mailing list information is kept until you unsubscribe. Records required for financial, legal or safety reasons are kept as long as the law requires.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you;
  • correct information that is wrong;
  • delete your information, unless we need to keep it for legal, financial or safety reasons;
  • stop sending you emails.

To make a request, contact the Parish Office at office@stnectariosgoc.org or (847) 358-5170.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including an encrypted (HTTPS) connection and a website security firewall. No website can be completely secure, so please avoid sending sensitive personal information through our contact forms.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
